Snoring Remedies ? Simple & Good Solutions To Heal You're ...

For good health, sleep is one of the most important. Common strategies for snoring remedies include surgery, drugs or dental implants. All that can be expensive possess some serious health problems and do not guarantee the end of the snoring habit. Stop snoring exercises are a highly effective alternative?

?

Approximately 25% of adults are habitual snorers, leading to 45% of snore occasionally. Which are more prevalent in men and it becomes worse as they age or become obese.

?

In terms of remedies against snoring, there are various options available. You can try everything from surgery to herbs. However for many people who are suffering from snoring, you can find simple, home-made solutions that will help their situation.

?

Now, they could not necessarily be able to cure their snoring, but there is something you can do that will a minimum of reduce the amount of snoring you need to do at night.

?

The initial alternative (and quite often one of the most a hardship on most people) will be the change in lifestyle. Are you overweight? Have you got a poor diet? This stuff can make you snore. If you lose weight, you can always reduce your snoring.

?

Now I admit this is not easy. But if I could do it, so I know you can too. It is simply a matter of the way you want to stop your snoring. Can it be affecting your health? Your marriage and relationships? If so, you have to do something concerning the problem. And when that means losing weight and stopping some unhealthy foods, then this is what you should do.

?

Being active is a good way to reduce your snoring, too. With low tone of muscle is known to be a factor when it comes to how much you do not snore during the night.

?

Obviously, these changes in lifestyle will not work overnight. You will need perseverance every day to make these changes in your life. But what else could you do in between?

?

Well, you can try a few different goods that open up your airways to help you breathe easier through the night. Some of the most common items to try are nasal strips (which can work wonders for a few), and some ?stop snoring? products including special pillows may also help.

?

Some quick method that will help you in May (as well as your partner) get a good night?s sleep is in your corner rather than your back. This can be difficult for many people (hence the classic remedy of sewing a tennis ball on your pajamas to ensure that you do not sleep on your back).

?

Do not hesitate to consult your doctor by providing an audio recording from the sound of the breathing through the night. If necessary, they?ll refer you to a respiratory polygraph sleep. Used, when snoring is an element of the snore syndrome, treating choice continues to be the use of a confident pressure mask or CPAP.

?

I am hoping my suggestions will ring true for you, even though they may seem a bit challenging to do initially. You can visit www.snoring-remedies-and-snore-aids.com for additional information.

G.L.O.C.: Watch With G.L.O.C. -- Girls Episode 7

2012-05-30-GirlsHBOWelcometoBushwicka.k.a.TheCrackcidentEpisode74550x365.jpg

The episode opens on a shot of Jessa, Hannah, and Marnie on their way to a warehouse party in Bushwick. Jessa is almost carrying off a feathery get-up that's half dying swan, half Tina Turner in Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome. She gets a text from a random number, but instead of finding out who it's from Jessa just texts back the address of the party. Rebel!

Marnie is jittery -- she's been completely thrown off by her breakup with Charlie. Hannah reassures her that there's very little chance of running into him: "It's like Waterworld in there."

They arrive and find Shoshanna, who's been holding up a wall for two hours: "I am literally so happy to see you I could murder you."

In case you were wondering, Ray and Charlie's band, Questionable Goods, has improved a lot since their last gig. Marnie shuffles up to see Charlie after their set. Turns out having her out of his life has meant that he's got more time for music... and new girlfriends named Audrey! Marnie's reputation hasn't preceded her AT ALL -- "Are you one of those Real Housewives?"

Just when you thought Hannah might have nothing to do, Adam appears! Well, he emerges from the darkness, being crawled over by a bunch of girls in glow in the dark body paint. Ahem.

Ray and Jessa are chatting idly; suddenly Shoshanna is there, talking like the MicroMachines guy; what is WRONG with her? "It was a glass cigarette, and I am high." It becomes clear that Shoshanna has accidently smoked crack. Jessa volunteers to be her Crack Spirit Guide. That is, until Jeff (who she babysits for -- sender of the phantom text!) shows up. Jessa hands her title over to Ray -- he can handle it, right? Shoshanna runs off, yelling incoherently about kick boxing class.

Adam's friend Tako, reveals to Hannah that Adam has been a member of AA for years ("it's the main defining thing about him, right?") She doesn't quite know how to take the news.

Jessa and Jeff are on a fire escape when she almost kills a couple of guys by dropping a wine bottle on them. After following it up with some shit-talk, the guys threaten to kill them. Off to the dance floor!

Ray catches up with Shoshanna, who is either nude from the waist down or just wearing pantyhose (funny either way!) Still high, she kicks the shit out of Ray, who is impressed with her superhuman strength. But in all fairness, "It might have been the crack."

Marnie finds Elijah and tears him away from a make-out session to complain about Charlie. When Elijah calls her out for being selfish, she counters, "No; Hannah's the selfish one! Everybody knows that!" Um... sure.

Poor Jeff. Like many men before him, he gets beat up for his proximity to a mouthy girl, landing him the ER. When Jessa rejects his suggestion that they sleep together, he calls her a tease. Rude, but also... not completely off-base.

Adam invites Hannah to a scrap yard, which he's raiding for materials to build a boat. Soon she's riding high on his bicycle handlebars and everything's idyllic... until Adam stops the bike short and Hannah FLIES to the ground. She's pissed, and not just because of the bloody knees: Why has he never shared his AA status with her? He points out that she never asked. As in "never asked anything except does that feel OK and do you like my skirt"! Touch?. The confrontation between them escalates; Adam finally yells, "Do you want me to be your boyfriend??" We're not privy to the answer, but Hannah's smile in the final shot, squeezed into the back of a cab between Marnie, Adam, and his bike, reveals all.

In this episode we got to see several key relationships (Hannah/Adam, Marnie/Charlie, and Jessa/Jeff) from opposite perspectives. The switch revealed how Hannah, Marnie, and Jessa create narratives that serve themselves alone: Hannah needs to see Adam as distant; Marnie needs to see Charlie as helpless, and Jessa needs to see Jeff paralyzed by lust. But in fact -- shocker! -- these men are 3-dimensional humans who are affected by their actions. The girls' failure to look beyond their own needs means that, until now, they've been deeply implicated in their own unhappiness. It remains to be seen whether they can take these lessons to heart, or whether we're in for more trial and error, which admittedly is a big part of Girls' appeal.

Pastilong, 6 others named to WVU Sports Hall

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) ? Former West Virginia University athletic director Ed Pastilong is among seven people who will be inducted into the university's Sports Hall of Fame this fall.

Current athletic director Oliver Luck announced the Class of 2012 on Saturday.

Others being inducted are soccer standout Katie Barnes, swimmer Dan Cavanaugh, football offensive tackle Ben Dunkerley and defensive back Bo Orlando, and basketball players Lee Patrone and Maurice Robinson.

Induction ceremonies will take place on Sept. 22 prior to WVU's home football game with Maryland.

Pastilong spent more than three decades at WVU, serving as athletic director from 1989 to 2010. He oversaw more than $65 million in facility renovations, including many at Mountaineer Field. Under his watch, the athletics budget grew from $20 million to more than $50 million, and Pastilong steered WVU into the Big East football conference.

Pastilong lettered as a WVU quarterback in 1964 and 1965. After coaching stints at Scott High and Salem College, he joined the WVU athletic department as football recruiting coordinator in 1976 and two years later became its scholarship officer. He was named assistant athletic director for facilities and operations in 1979 and was promoted to associate athletic director in 1987.

Barnes' WVU soccer career spanned 1998-2001 and she was a two-time Big East offensive player of the year. She led the Mountaineers to their first-ever NCAA tournament appearance as a junior.

Cavanaugh was WVU's first swimmer to qualify for the NCAA meet and was a two-time Southern Conference champion. He competed in 1959 and 1960 and missed two seasons of competition due to military service. He still holds the 100-meter world record for the 70-to-75 age group.

Dunkerley lettered in football for two years, earning second-team Associated Press All-America honors in 1952. The Mountaineers went 7-2 that season. He died in 1987 at age 56.

Orlando was a key in the WVU secondary from 1985-88. He was co-captain of the 1988 team that went undefeated during the regular season. He played 10 seasons with the Houston Oilers, San Diego Chargers, Cincinnati Bengals and Pittsburgh Steelers.

Patrone lettered on the basketball team from 1959-61. He was second to Jerry West in team scoring in 1960 and was captain of the 1961 team. He finished his career with 1,028 points and 210 assists.

Robinson averaged 12.4 points and 8.4 rebounds during his career from 1975-78. He ranks in the top 10 in school history in field-goal percentage and 24th all-time in points.

The Class of 2012 will bring the total number of inductees in the Sports Hall of Fame to 141.

Tomlin a 'win-at-all-costs' guy

120526-football.nbcsports-story-612AP

Sunday?s sports pages from sea to shining sea not only included an Associated Press column regarding gambling on NFL games, but also contained an AP article on the future of youth football.? The item from Chris Jenkins provides an accurate snapshot of the practical consequences flowing from the combination of a generation of helicopter parenting and the advancement of medical knowledge regarding the long-term effects of mild brain trauma.

With or without the concussion lawsuits and the suicides of Dave Duerson and Junior Seau, mothers and fathers would continue to shy away from exposing young children to the more immediate risks of playing football.? If padded youth tackle football will survive over the long term (and, frankly, for kids under the age of 12 I?m not sure that it should), efforts must be made to ensure that coaches will be more responsible.

Plenty of the men who give their time to the coaching of youth football undoubtedly have good intentions and use appropriate methods, placing the well-being of their players over the ?win-at-all-costs? mentality that infects coaches at every stage of the sport.? But some coaches make youth football their own personal NFL, allowing an obsession with victory to cloud common sense and, at times, basic decency.

Forty years ago, youth coaches routinely denied their players water during practice, kicked them in the asses when they were loafing (I still have a cleat mark or two in mine), and corrected alignment errors by pulling them by the facemasks into the right position.? Though the days of football coaches laying hands on kids have long since ended (except for Mike Vanderjagt . . . allegedly), plenty of youth coaches still insist on a ruthless, aggressive approach from boys who should still be boys, in every way.

I?ve witnessed it.? Several years ago, Florio Jr. had soccer practice.? Nearby, a youth football team was padded up.? The coach was barking at kids no older than 10 like they were adults, cajoling them to be ?mean? and ?nasty? and to hit the other team so hard that when they cross paths at the mall during high school the opponents will still feel intimidated by it.

It?s shameful and it?s irresponsible and it needs to end, or youth tackle football eventually will.

And that?s where the NFL?s assumption that changes made at the top of the sport will trickle down could be erroneous.? Pro football coaches are accountable to the league office.? College football coaches answer to the NCAA.? At the high-school level and below, who?s really paying attention to what these coaches say and do?

That?s why it?s critical for efforts like the Lystedt Law to be successful in every state.? Without external bright-line rules regarding concussions, coaches who are largely left to their own devices will continue to be able to do things the way they?ve always been done, regardless of any advancements that are made to protect the grown men who play the game.

At every level below college, the challenge for football will be to adapt to the new expectations of society and parents and players, or to face the fact that players and parents and ultimately society will choose another path.? Though it won?t kill the sport completely, it will make it harder for colleges and NFL teams to identify and develop the best of the best available players.

Thus, every college team and every NFL franchise has a direct interest in finding ways to ensure that the stewards of the youth and high-school versions of the game behave responsibly, prudently, and properly when it comes to ensuring the health and safety of the boys and young men entrusted to them.

96% The Kid with a Bike

All Critics (106) | Top Critics (26) | Fresh (102) | Rotten (4)

The film should be required viewing for everyone who has lost faith in the power of random acts of kindness.

"The Kid With a Bike" vibrates with desperation, frustration and the simple unfairness of life, leavened with glimpses of hope.

Cyril is one of the most inspiringly resilient, self-aware young characters to arrive on-screen in recent memory...

"The Kid With A Bike'' is, remarkably, about hope - about the connections people forge when the ones they've been given desert them.

The Dardennes' quiet, naturalistic style strips this story of melodrama but not of emotion.

Without diminishing the boy's intensity or making him in any way ingratiating, the Dardennes take us into his mind, and we begin to appreciate not only his predicament but his resiliency.

A frank, no-nonsense drama filled with compassion for a lost soul kid abandoned by his father.

...a deeply humane movie that deserves to be compared with one of its obvious inspirations, Vittorio De Sica's neo-realist classic Bicycle Thieves

A moving, sweet and at times harrowing tale...

De France does a terrific job of balancing maternal instinct with matter-of-factness, in a performance that is more human than tender - and all the more powerful for it.

Unlike many films, it genuinely earns every feeling it evokes.

a complex interweaving of bitter reality and a deeply humane worldview that sees the possibility of redemption in even the cruelest of circumstances

A beautiful and stirring story of unconditional compassion, of emotional honesty, and -- above all -- of hope.

The Dardennes' style resists cheap sentimentality, yet in The Kid with a Bike it yields a deeply moving examination of love as a shield.

Dardenne brothers set an orphan in search of a father

Will bad breaks break a boy?

How the Dardennes, time and again, turn gritty, mundane subjects into transcendent moments of honesty and truth is one of the great cinematic wonders.

This is a film that's not always easy to watch, but just about impossible to forget.

It is crystal clear on at least one point: People are mysterious and beautiful, and they need each other.

Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne offer another in their remarkable succession of contemporary neo-realist dramas in this quietly devastating but gently hopeful [film].

[It] gives obvious homage to a variety of films. ... But one inspiration shines throughout the movie ... The Red Balloon.

...the film delivers a final act as riveting as it is artistically satisfying. Not many films can claim a perfect ending. This one can.

...manages to balance a spiritual sense of grace with the earthy eye of a here-and-now realist.

How Search, Social Media and Content Accelerate Your Business ...

social media book reviewsYour customers get 99% of their information from search engines, social media referrals, online news sites and targeted content.

If your business is NOT there among the solutions when your customers are looking, you?re lost.

And even if they do find you some other way, you will still lose if you don?t have compelling content to keep them engaged with your brand.

And so you must publish, you must tell stories and you must become interesting to your customers so that they find, like and trust you.

In his book, Accelerate! Move Your Business Forward Through the Convergence of Search, Social & Content Marketing, Arnie Kuenn puts it simply:

?Web users are consumers of content and you need to deliver compelling content that will engage them, and keep them coming back for more.?

This book is about successful digital publishing and consistent content quality. The author explains that if you do it right and strive for quality, you?ll produce content that:

  • Attracts links.
  • Compels people to share it on social media.
  • Meets the real needs of your customers.

Here?s what you need to know about Accelerate! by Arnie Kuenn.

Author?s Purpose

arnie kuenn photo

Arnie Kuenn, author of Accelerate!

Arnie Kuenn wrote this book for website owners (that?s you!) to get you thinking like a publisher.

And he should know something about that, because he self-published this book. Kuenn is sharing not just theory, but experiences from his own success as an online marketer and publisher!

He wants you to have a thorough understanding of:

  • How digital publishing works.
  • How to create the kind of content your customers are looking for.
  • How to ensure that they find it and share it.
  • How all of these things will ultimately strengthen your online presence.

What to Expect

book cover

At 13 chapters (257 pages), Accelerate! is a meaty book. It?s a very analytical and logical guide to Internet marketing. If you?re not an experienced Internet marketer, this book will give you the confidence you need to execute digital publishing from the perspective of content, search and social media.

Even if you?re a veteran Internet marketer, you can expect to get a much firmer grip on these concepts and how each contributes to the publishing process.

You?ll discover that a content strategy is very much like the links in a bicycle chain. These links are:

  • Strategy
  • Research
  • Content creation
  • Promotion
  • Distribution
  • Link-building
  • Measurement

Not only is each link vital to the strength of the whole chain, but also all links must be connected (break one link and the whole things falls apart!).

Highlights

Each of the 13 chapters serves as a powerful brainstorming exercise for your next piece of content. However, there are some key concepts that I feel compelled to highlight.

#1: Target Your Traffic Through Keyword Research

Keywords play a powerful role in a content marketing strategy. They are the basic means of communication between searcher and search engine, representing the searcher?s voice and interest. Here?s how to brainstorm for relevant keywords and phrases:

  • What are the key terms that you identify with your industry?
  • Do your products come in different styles or colors?
  • Do you have model numbers or serial numbers that someone might search for?
  • Would your product or service be categorized differently by region, or even by country? For example, one searcher might search ?auto insurance? and another might search ?car insurance.?
  • Consider your products or services by components. For example, if you sell playground equipment, what are the components of the playground equipment that you sell: swing set, slide, monkey bars, etc.?
  • From your market research, determine what kinds of questions people are asking about your industry. Do these questions give you new insight into how your products are being seen that you hadn?t considered before?

Remember, the main idea in brainstorming for keywords and phrases is to think like a searcher and put yourself in his or her shoes.

#2: Content Must be Maintained to be Successful

Content needs constant maintenance to be successful. You can?t ignore maintenance. Your content represents your brand and your expertise?your ability to meet the needs of your customers. Whether online or offline, the content you publish needs to be kept up to date in order to remain relevant, timely and accurate.

Here are some common content issues that creep up when maintenance is neglected:

  • Old, inaccurate or irrelevant content
  • Broken links within the content
  • Policy changes that may affect content
  • Inconsistency with branding style
  • Inaccurate or missing meta-descriptions

To begin monitoring your existing content assets, you will need to do a content audit, which involves using a simple Excel spreadsheet to take inventory.

In the end you want to keep content that:

  • Is relevant, timely and useful.
  • Meets your organizational goals.
  • Adds value to your customers? experience.

#3: Proper use of Links to Optimize Content

The way that you handle links is a significant part of search engine optimization. The most important thing is to make it clear where a link will take your visitors?don?t surprise them. Using ambiguous or generic words such as ?click here? as anchor text, is a less effective linking strategy than using clear and definitive words.

chain links

Proper use of links means more visibility and success. Image source: iStockPhoto

Here are some link tips:

  • A link?s color should be different from the main text?most people expect it to be blue and underlined, so you might want to keep that in mind as you set up your style sheet.
  • The words that you highlight (anchor text) should be a good clue to the content that you?re linking to. Try not to send your visitor to a page that they?re not expecting.
  • Broken links look sloppy and give the impression that you?ve forgotten about the page. Both users and search engines frown upon broken links.
  • Search engines want to see links in your content, and internal links are the easiest way to accomplish that. Internal links are clues to your website?s relevance.
  • When using internal links, avoid generic anchor text such as ?Want to read more? Click here.? Again, search engines want to see relevance in the anchor text. To ensure relevance, make sure that the anchor text for those links matches the title of the page it links to, whether it?s a page on your site or a page on another website.
  • Above all, links should direct users to a page that is relevant to the content that they are currently engaging. Directing users away from the topic at hand is a surefire way to lose their attention.

#4: Use Social Media to Promote Content?the Right Way

The greatest value of social media is that it?s social. You have the opportunity to engage and interact with potential customers by adding a sense of familiarity and comfort to your brand image.

The Motor Lodge in Prescott, AZ is a great example of a small business doing this on Facebook. They?ve generated a following of about 1,600 fans on their page, and are keeping them engaged with updates about life at the hotel (even though most of their followers aren?t immediately looking to spend the night in Prescott).

Their success comes first from a quality website that demonstrates who they are, is appealing to visitors and is easily navigable.

motor lodge website

The Motor Lodge has a visually attractive website that shows off their brand's personality.

Second, they consistently post interesting content on Facebook, such as stories about their resident cat Shadow, and invitations for fans to ?come to our place for a good shower.? Their updates treat followers as friends and even more importantly, the down-to-earth posts encourage comments and interaction.

Third, their updates aren?t necessarily about them, but rather offer reasons to come to Prescott, AZ. These kinds of updates don?t sound like advertising, but for last-minute getaways, this quaint little town will be on the radar of most of their fans, and they?ll have a reason to stay at the lodge!

You can do this too by building relationships on Facebook so that when you have some content to promote, you have an audience that?s ready to receive it. Take a look:

motor lodge fans

Motor Lodge fans really love this hip little motel in Prescott, AZ.

Personal Impression

Accelerate! is an exceptional book and now that I?ve read it, I?m a HUGE fan of Arnie Kuenn! If you read it, you?ll see why.

I love that he talks about something often overlooked that is at the very heart of digital publishing: that it?s not just about content marketing and social media. Far from it!

There?s a ton of work that goes on behind the scenes to boost online presence. Things like research, link-building, content curation, content audits, understanding how search engines work, reputation management and other activities which are extremely important parts of the digital publishing process?and they?re all very well explained in this book.

You?ll find tremendous value in this book and some tips in particular; for example, how to send link requests that don?t get deleted, and how to approach bloggers who are out of your league. He even explains how to develop a customized pitch. To say that this is a great book is an understatement. So if you?re doing business online, you absolutely have to read Accelerate!

If Social Media Examiner could give this book a 6-star rating, we would! But there?s no such thing, so a full 5-star rating will have to do!

What do you think? Leave your questions and comments in the box below.

I So Pale! Weather Girl Commits Classic Local News Blunder

This clip from a local news broadcast in what appears to be Washington is amazing.

Watch as the weather girl cracks a joke to her colleague, awkwardly saying "I so pale!" in a weird voice for some reason, not realizing that she's already LIVE on air.

After her co-worker points this fact out, her face shows an absolutely priceless, mortified expression ... after which she launches directly into the local forecast.

Partly cloudy with a 100 percent chance of on-air embarrassment:

Ron Conway Makes It Clear That SV Angel Is David Lee?s Fund (And It Might Be Raising Another $400M)

arr_conSilicon Valley is full of unsung heroes: Mike Krieger, Arash Ferdowsi, interns, the TechCrunch sales team, Heather Harde and the countless engineers that keep the products we love from failing to be the products we love. One of these unsung heroes is SV Angel's David Lee, who has served as a mentor and sounding board for almost every smart person in the Valley as far as I can tell. But as of today Lee is a little more "sung"; In a discussion with Michael Arrington on stage at TC Disrupt New York, investor Ron Conway made it even more clear that SV Angel is actually managing partner David Lee's fund.

Dreamy Facebook IPO becoming a?nightmare

Beck Diefenbach / REUTERS

The sun rises behind the entrance sign to Facebook headquarters in Menlo Park, Calif.

By Roland Jones

The hotly-anticipated Facebook IPO was supposed to be a watershed moment in social media and one of the biggest stock offerings to ever hit Wall Street.

Instead, the event is turning out to be a major humiliation for Facebook, its underwriters and the Nasdaq Stock Market, where Facebook opted to list its shares (although CNBC reported Wednesday?it is now considering a move to the NYSE, though the exchange denied any conversations with the company).

Critics say the underwriting banks set the price of the offering too high and sold too many shares to the public, and the IPO debacle is raising broader questions from regulators about the IPO process, according to news reports Wednesday.

In the latest blow to the company, three shareholders filed a lawsuit against Facebook Wednesday, saying its chief executive Mark Zuckerberg and several banks led by Morgan Stanley omitted?or misrepresented material information?about?the?social networking leader?s business ahead of its IPO. The lawsuit seeks class-action status for all Facebook shareholders, except the defendants.

A Facebook spokesperson said the lawsuit is without merit and the company plans to fight it ?vigorously.?

Capitol Hill is also focused on the company. The Senate Banking Committee said Wednesday it is investigating issues related to Facebook?s IPO. The development comes one day after the top financial regulator, the Securities and Exchange Commission, said it would be looking into the company?s IPO. Facebook also faces a lawsuit from an investor from California.

Shares of the newly-public company have reflected investor confusion over the offering. Instead of the usual first-day ?pop? seen in most high-tech IPOs, they have pulled back since they began trading on Friday. Since hitting an intra-day high of $45 a share on Friday the company's stock price has fallen 31 percent to close Tuesday at $31, although the stock price rebounded 3 percent in Wednesday's trading session.

An IPO that wobbles in its debut isn?t necessarily a bad sign, as many new public companies -- such as Amazon.com -- have started out poorly and gone on to be top performers. But the share price tumult is suggestive of a botched and disorderly IPO process, experts say.

Despite the first-day trading debacle, Facebook?s IPO has succeeded in raising $16 billion for the company and some of its early investors, and it has valued the company at just over $100 billion.

But the offering -- the largest ever for a U.S. Internet company -- has left many individual investors who bought into the company on Friday with paper losses.

Two days after Facebook entered the public markets for the first time, details are emerging about the machinations behind its offering.

According to a Reuters report, just days before Facebook went public, analysts at Morgan Stanley and other underwriting firms started advising clients to rein in their expectations for the company?s growth.

Related: Zuckerberg, banks sued over Facebook IPO

As institutional investors worked to digest the developments, Morgan Stanley tried to set the price and size of the stock offering, The New York Times reported, noting that, while some big institutions scaled back on their plans, others placed large orders and retail investors clamored to buy shares of the tech icon.

Eventually, Facebook and Morgan Stanley decided there was enough demand and interest in the IPO to justify an offering price of $38 a share, even as other bankers involved in the deal pushed back, concerned about the company?s growth prospects, particularly in the mobile space, the Times reported.

Facebook?s Chief Financial Officer David Ebersman, who worked closely on every aspect of the IPO with Morgan Stanley?s co-head of global technology banking Michael Grimes, was instrumental in deciding to increase the number of shares Facebook would offer in the IPO by 25 percent, according to The Wall Street Journal.

In the end, given the muted reception to the IPO, the $38 a share offering price -- and the increased allocation of shares -- may have neutralized any first-day price jumps, which are seen by Wall Street banks as the trademark of a successful IPO.

?They misjudged what the real demand was,? Quinten Stevens, chief investment officer at Stevens Asset Management, told CNBC, referring to the underwriting banks on the deal.

Stevens noted that, given the hype surrounding the IPO and the fact that the offering was so heavily oversubscribed, it would have been very difficult to accurately gauge demand from investors. Once an IPO loses momentum in the first hours and days of trading, it ?turns to the downside and becomes a busted IPO,? he added.

Anindya Ghose, an associate professor at NYU?s Stern School of Business, reckons the bankers pricing the deal overestimated the company?s projected revenue growth rate. With a more modest outlook for future revenue growth, he reckons Facebook shares would be worth a price ?in the mid to upper 20s? -- closer to the first estimate of $28 the company gave investors.

Indeed, a handful of Wall Street estimates analyzed and modeled by Thomson Reuters StarMine finds that Facebook would be more fairly priced at just below $10. The analysis projects an annualized earnings growth over the next 10 years of 10.8 percent, almost exactly the mean for the technology sector and far below the 24 percent growth rate implied by the current stock price.

Related: Still hope for Facebook, despite poor start

?Investors are looking for much more growth than the analysts covering the company,? said Greg Harrison, corporate earnings research analyst at Thomson Reuters.

Worries about Facebook?s growth prospects emerged in early May when the company disclosed potential challenges in a regulatory filing. Of greatest concern was the increasing use of Facebook on mobile devices -- a realm where the company is not making much money from ads.

Top financial regulators said on Tuesday the issues around the Facebook IPO should be reviewed. One area of concern, according to reports, could be the disclosure of lower growth forecasts to certain big institutional investors, which may leave both Facebook and Morgan Stanley open to accusations of selective disclosure.

?I think there is a lot of reason to have confidence in our markets and in the integrity of how they operate, but there are issues that we need to look at specifically with respect to Facebook,? Securities and Exchange Commission Chairman Mary Schapiro told reporters Tuesday as she exited a Senate Banking Committee hearing.

The SEC is also investigating setbacks following a technology glitch on the Nasdaq exchange.

Meanwhile, Massachusetts state securities regulators have already issued a subpoena to Morgan Stanley seeking information about its analysts' discussions with investors about Facebook.

Facebook's COO Sheryl Sandberg steered clear of any controversial issues regarding her company's IPO in her speech for Harvard Business School students Wednesday. Below, CNBC's Julia Boorstin reports the details.

3DS Mod - SENSIBLE ENERGY SAVING TIPS

As of 2011, the United States ranked top of the list amidst the worlds top electricity consuming countries surpassing competing giants like Russia & China. With population considered, the volume of electricity used up may have changed per home but even that was insufficient for the country to be recognized. The same statistics is projected for 2012. With consumption chronicling improved cash flow for service providers, homeowners find themselves uninformed that they are in for a payback: raised monthly electricity bills in addition to the standard household worries eat away their financial ledgers. It might appear hopeless as this situation is exacerbated by global warming, industrialization, and widespread use but know that advantageous transformations can start via you.

How can I reduce my electric bill through the lights I have? We still have our lives to live even when our daylight tasks are finished. To answer this question, 2 sorts of lights are categorized according to human usage needs: night and day lights:
Day Lights. Recognize that energy conservation also happens throughout the day when natural light is optimized instead of utilizing artificial sources of light. While it might just require a few usages of home improvement ideas, it pays well to allow natural light to enter your home. This can mean using brighter curtain or blinds to reflect light or by widening your windows.
Night Lights. In the evening, we need illumination for our productivity and security. Productivity describes the tasks we need to complete at home when our time throughout the day is too little. In this situation, general lighting might not be a smart means to conserve energy. Instead, the utilization of task lighting helps you accomplish your tasks and the minimization of light diffusion helps you save a couple watts.
Generally, you should use dimmers for you to adjust the intensity of light you use. If you use motion sensors, you may have them installed interdependent with bulbs. Upon activation of the sensor, the light automatically switches on too. For your lights, you may consider taking advantage of fluorescent bulbs.
One important tip that can be applied universally: never forget to turn off unused lights.

How can I reduce my electric bill through the appliances I have? Technology has its own marvels on efficiency and comfort but it demands its own price because of its dependency on electricity. While the appliance you have at home do not operate unless you use them, forgetting to pull the plugs or turn those buttons off are widespread. Lets have a look at a few of those who contribute much on your electric bill:
Refrigerator. Routinely defrosting the fridge means that its motors will not need much energy to keep it cool according to the settings you chose. Related to this, specifying the coolness of the fridges internal environment means savings on needless electricity use.
Flatiron. If you prefer to do your own laundry, you may opt to iron all your clothes in one day or sitting if possible. Flat iron requires energy to build heat thus ironing your clothes each and every day leads you to pay what little you could have saved.
Coffee maker. That little device that helps you perk your day up may be left turned on until you come home. Get in the habit to turn its power off when your coffee is finished brewing. Similar to the flat iron, coffee makers use heating parts to keep the perfect temperature on your coffee. Until it is turned off, it will continue to squander that energy.
Laundry machine. Needlessly to say, doing laundry on a daily basis is not fun for you. Well, some people do. Think of that consumption rate you can save by having that machine perform its job once or twice per week.

How can I reduce my electric bill and still get the ventilation I need?
Thermostat. You may want to replace your existing thermostat with its electronic counterpart. This way, temperature is regulated automatically depending on whether you are at home doing your chores, sleeping, or outside.

All of the previously mentioned are just few of the ways that can assist you save on paying high electric bills. It may seem like it calls for a lot of effort from you but small achievements accumulate, changes are imminent. One fantastic thing about that is that you can start doing it now.

Tributes pour in for late Bee Gees star Robin Gibb

Bee Gees star Robin Gibb, singer with one of the biggest-selling groups of all time and a key figure in the breakthrough of disco, has died aged 62, having lost his battle against cancer.

Gibb had been in remission earlier this year but was hospitalised in April and then fell into a coma after contracting pneumonia.

Though he woke up again on April 20, he had advanced colorectal cancer and finally succumbed to his illness late on Sunday night.

"The family of Robin Gibb, of the Bee Gees, announce with great sadness that Robin passed away on Sunday 20 May, 2012 at 10:46pm (2146 GMT) following his long battle with cancer and intestinal surgery," a statement on his website read.

The Bee Gees -- brothers Barry, Maurice and Robin Gibb -- helped turn disco into a global phenomenon in the 1970s with hits such as "How Deep Is Your Love", "Stayin' Alive", and "Night Fever".

Hailing from the Isle of Man in the Irish Sea, they grew up in Manchester and Australia and were singing publicly from childhood.

Born on December 22, 1949, Robin was 17 when he sang lead vocals on the Bee Gees' first British number one, "Massachusetts", in 1967, before they switched styles to disco in the 1970s.

The trio's sharp songwriting and immaculate harmonies helped them notch up record sales of more than 200 million.

"We used to say that we were one soul in three bodies. We worked with such spirit between us, able to read each other's thoughts when we wrote together," Robin once said.

"How Can You Mend a Broken Heart", the group's first US number one, along with "Jive Talkin'", "Nights on Broadway" and "You Should be Dancing" established them as big stars.

But the disco soundtrack "Saturday Night Fever" (1977), which sold more than 40 million copies, was their biggest success, becoming one of the best-selling albums of all time.

The brothers also also wrote hit songs for others including Diana Ross, ("Chain Reaction"), Barbra Streisand ("Woman In Love"), Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton ("Islands In The Stream") Dione Warwick ("Heartbreaker") and Frankie Valli ("Grease").

Their last studio album was 2001's "This Is Where I Came In".

The Bee Gees were made Commanders in the Order of the British Empire -- one step below a knighthood -- in 2004.

Former British prime minister Tony Blair was a close friend and stayed at Gibb's Miami mansion in 2006.

"Robin was not only an exceptional and extraordinary musician and songwriter, he was a highly intelligent, interested and committed human being," Blair said.

"He was a great friend with a wonderful open and fertile mind and a student of history and politics. I will miss him very much."

Broadcaster Paul Gambaccini, a pop history expert, called Gibb "one of the important figures in the history of British music" and "talented beyond even his own understanding".

"Robin had one of the best white soul voices ever," he said, citing "Massachusetts".

"The Bee Gees are second only to Lennon and McCartney as the most successful songwriting unit in British popular music," he added.

"Their accomplishments have been monumental," he said, citing not only their own number one hits, but those written for others, such as Diana Ross.

Fellow music stars voiced their sadness at the singer's passing.

"They were on a par with The Beatles and I think sometimes people forget that," Cliff Richard told BBC radio.

Queen guitarist Brian May said on his website: "An amazing voice, so distinctive and expressive. Real magic, and will remain immortal."

Gibb's death comes three days after Grammy winner Donna Summer, nicknamed the queen of disco, who died aged 63 from lung cancer.

Canadian rocker Bryan Adams wrote on Twitter: "Robin Gibb RIP. Very sad to hear about yet another great singer dying too young."

Simply Red frontman Mick Hucknall called Gibb a "musical giant".

Boyzone singer Ronan Keating and Take That songwriter Gary Barlow -- whose bands both topped the British charts with Bee Gees covers, also paid tribute.

"I am devastated. Can't believe it," said Keating, while Barlow added: "His music will outlive us all."

Gibb's latest composition, "The Titanic Requiem", a classical work written with his son Robin-John, was given its world premiere in London in April, but he was too ill to attend.

He spearheaded the campaign to create a memorial to the Royal Air Force's Bomber Command, which carried out controversial, devastating World War II air attacks on German cities. It is due to be unveiled in London next month.

"It is a tragedy that Robin will not see the finished article," the Bomber Command Association said.

"But Robin did his bit for all who served in Bomber Command and on the behalf of the veterans and the relatives of those who died in WWII, we would simply like to say: thank you."

He is survived by three children: Spencer and Melissa, born to his first wife Molly, and Robin-John, born to his second wife Dwina

History of Atlanta Falcons

Rankin Smith, a young insurance executive, had control of the property of the Falcons. Virtually unknown to the general public, Smith immediately endeared himself to fans of the sport with a rhetorical question, the election in a press conference after his acquisition of the franchise: "Not all adult males in the United U.S. wants to own your own team? "Not every adult American males have the means to swing a deal, but it was comforting to know that a man can dream like any other.

On the first day there were over 1,000 phone calls to the offices of Smith for tickets. In August, a competition was completed which resulted in the nickname Falcons. Several people suggested the name "hawks" in the contest, but a school teacher from nearby Griffin, GA (Ms. Julia Elliott), was selected the winner for his reasons: "The falcon is proud and dignified, with great courage and fight it and which never falls prey.

It is deadly and has a great sporting tradition. "

In mid-December, Smith had signed the player most coveted college football in the nation, Texas linebacker Tommy Nobis. On Christmas Eve, when the Falcons cut 54-day written ticket sales, with almost no promotion, a new record in the National Football League was established for fertilizers sold by a new team (45,000). Green Bay Packer assistant Norb Hacker was hired as the first head coach and immediately began to sift through a huge list of NFL players available to the Atlanta expansion team by other teams in the league. Three men were selected from each NFL club and these 42 formed the nucleus of the list. Added to this group were drafted rookies, free agents and dozens of few players obtained in various trades.

In over 35 years of ownership of the Smith family had only hawks very short moments of success! When Rankin Smith Sr., died in October 1997, his family retained control of the Falcons. The team has had a less than stellar record. Under the ownership of Rankin Smith, the team won a division title in 1980 and reached the playoffs five times. The only real success the hawks reached during the Smith was under the direction of head coach Dan Reeves, the Falcons franchise captured its NFC championship following the 1998 season regular.
